Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running in the Hoy Half Marathon on June 13th here in Orkney, to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. It takes place on the island of Hoy which has the biggest hills in Orkney and it is a very, very tough course. I am no athlete, I am a (nearly but not quite) middle aged darts player who runs in the summer in an effort to keep fit! During my training so far I have lost a stone in weight and feel a lot better for it, it shows what eating healthy food and taking regular exercise can do.
I am aiming to raise at least £500 – however I would love to reach £1000– with donations online here and with sponsor forms. If I raise more I will be more than delighted!
Each £250 raised could cover the cost of a hand held ECG machine, which are designed for patients to use at home to monitor their hearts.
I am running in memory of my friend, Steven Flett from Holm in Orkney who died of heart problems last April aged only 40.
