Story
In October 2011 I will embark on a 7 day trek to reach the summit of on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support. At 5,896 metres Kilimanjaro is the highest freestanding mountain in the world.
Over the seven days, trekking time will vary from 5 – 14 hours per day over varied terrain in temperatures that will range from between 16 – 31 degrees Celsius during the day and below freezing at night, add to this the altitude factor which will be the most demanding of all and you have a very challenging trek.
A full itinerary can be found here:

Not only will this be a great challenge and a wonderful experience, most importantly it will enable me to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. I aim to raise a minimum of £4,300 for the charity.
Macmillan Cancer Support holds a great deal of personal importance to my family and I. In November 2009 my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Due to the advanced state of this cancer which has spread to the spine the cancer will never be eradicated leaving my father with the prospect of losing his life (at present he is only 54 years old) and my family and I the prospect of losing someone we hold very dear to us.
Many thanks,
Adam
