Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are a group of 6 friends who are united in a common cause to raise as much money as possible for a charity that does so much positive work to support teenagers and young adults suffering from cancer. We are completing the 170 mile Roses Way coast to coast route from Morecambe to Bridlington over 3 days from Friday 7th September to Sunday the 9th. Three of the team are cycling with one other team member running 13 miles per day over some very challenging terrain. The other guys in the team are providing important backup and support en-route.
Why are we doing it? - one of our team has first hand experience of the Teenage Cancer Trust charity when his son was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in June last year. He was treated for 5 weeks in a specialist teenage inpatients unit at Leeds General Hospital. This unit was set-up by the TCT to a very high specification to ensure that the young people using its excellent facilities were supported as much as possible during a very traumatic time.
The TCT recognise that teenagers stand a better chance of fighting their cancer if they are treated by teenage cancer experts in an environment more suited to their needs.
The TCT now have facilities local to us in Humberside, with an increasing presence in dedicated hospital units throughout the UK.
So please dig deep and donate now.
