Ali was just five years old when his father sent him to beg for money in the streets of capital. Six months later, one late evening, he found himself behind the door of their empty house. The family moved out and forgot their small boy.

Mohammad was less than five when he witnessed the worst possible domestic abuse in their home.   He still has nightmares reminding him of the morning his mother never woke up anymore as a result of violence.

Amir had lived with five different step fathers before turning three. The last one forced his mum to abandon him. Amir always talks about the day he was left alone, he was enjoying an ice cream in the back seat of taxi, when his mother left to look for her purse she “forgot” in the shop and never came back.

All the boys in the foster home bear such terrifying stories in their innocent memories. All they needed and wished for was a loving family, the family we are trying to make for them. A family where they are sure they will be safe, they have a roof over their heads and there is always warm food on the table. To let them celebrate their birthdays in the simplest but happiest possible way, to make it possible for them to travel with their brothers like all the other families and to have the education they deserve.

 

Nothing is more pleasant to pass by their home and see the boys laughing and playing all together.
