Thanks for coming to my page.
You may remember
a
while ago I lost my mind and decided to run a marathon. Not just any
marathon but the
Walt
Disney World marathon. I spent a whole year training and in the end, not
only was it an
unforgettable
experience, but I raised more money than I thought possible for UNICEF.
After taking a year off, I'm doing it
again. But this time it's a little different: it's not a full marathon but a
half, and it's not at WDW but at
Disneyland
in California on 5 September 2010. However, this is not another 'walk in
the park'. Training for a half marathon is a little easier than for a full one
but it still requires committment, endurance and dedication. The race may be
fun but trust me, training is not always easy. But knowing that what I'm doing
is making a difference to others can help me get out and train on the cold,
rainy, horrible days.
So this is where you come in. I need you
to dig deep - deeper than before - and help me reach my target of £500 for
UNICEF. This charity does amazing work with children in some of the world's neediest
areas by helping them receive the support, health care and education they need
to s
urvive
the threats of childhood poverty. They also
protect
children from violence, exploitation and abuse as well as encourage
families to educate girls as well as boys. UNICEF is always there whenever
children need protection from
war and natural disasters
and they provide emergency assistance within hours in most cases. If you want
to learn more about the amazing work these guys do
visit their website.
Any amount goes a long way towards
helping. For example, £10 provides enough HIV test kits for 20
mothers-to-be, £20 buys enough malaria nets to protect 6 families while
£50 can help 6 families collect and store clean water for their use.Every penny
you give me goes straight to UNICEF and will make a difference in someone's
life.
