Story

THIS IS MY SECOND FULL MARATHON WITHIN 6 MONTHS. I am walking the ING New York City Marathon, for The Douglas Bader Foundation. As they helped me to walk again.
I was the first women, to compete and complete the Flora London Marathon, on two artificial legs. That was on 17th April 2005. It took my step dad and me 19 hrs and 10 minutes, the last 4 miles took us over 5 hours, I was in agony, but determined to finish, so as to not let my sponsors or myself, down.
I have been told I am an inspiration to others because when I came out of the coma, in September 2001, I was told in a round about way, that I would never walk again. Confined to a wheelcair, for the rest of my life. The Douglas Bader Walking School, got me walking again, in January 2004. It was a uphill struggle from the word GO. In March 2004, Eiffie, my step dad, told me he was putting my wheelchair, where I would not find it. At times I hated him, as he would not let up, on me walking.
So Please dig really deep into your pockets, to help me to reach my target.
If you would like to talk to me, give me some tips or ask for a hand written sponsor form, my number is 07876 777994.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Meningitis Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now! I Love you all I couldn't of raised so much money for charity without you Clare xx
