Story
I did it!!! It was really tough in places, because I'd set myself a challenge of completing in under 2 hours. At mile 9 I had to really switch off into the 'zone' and concentrated only on the next step. The Macmillan cheering points were amazing, and because I'd written my name on my top, they went mad cheering and screaming "Go on Clare" as I ran past, which was a real boost.
I finished in 1 hour 58 mins and 20 seconds. And I've raised lots of money too, so a huge thank you to you all for sponsoring me.
...
Here I go again, planning to run the Cardiff Half Marathon in October 2011.
This year's a bit different though. I want to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support in honour of my Mum who is continuing her battle against ovarian cancer. She has received excellent support from Macmillan, and I know that the Macmillan nurses have been a fantastic source of information, support and kindness for her. In her words "They have been fantastic... I don't know how I'd have managed without them".
My training is progressing really well - I'm up to around 20 miles a week, with my longest run so far being 10 miles. This will gradually increase over the coming weeks.
There's a bit of blurb below about JustGiving, which I've left in for those of you who like reading small print.
Most of all though I'd like to say a huge thank you if you can sponsor me even a small amount. Over the past couple of years I have raised over £300 for various charities. I'd like this one to be a bit special :)
Thank you
Clare xx
