Hi, my name is Claire-Louise Conway and first I want to say a big 'Thank You' for visiting my site.
I am raising funds for Raleigh International, and will be going on their Namibia 05F expedition next year to do community and environmental work in Namibian villages.
The ways I am fundraising so far include sponsored walks, car boot sales, quiz nights and a charity auction. My latest planned feat is the 80 kilometre Mt. Kinabalu National Park trek - well, a simulation of it around Richmond Park in London, anyway! It's on the 23rd of October, and should really help me towards getting fit in preparation for my actual expedition.
What's the money for, exactly?
The work that Raleigh does (and that I will be doing!) includes building schools, playgrounds, libraries, clinics - they always make sure it's sustainable, and most importantly very beneficial to the community it is for. You can see their website at www.raleighinternational.org
And don't worry about your money being spent on paperwork - only 0.4% of Raleigh's funds go to management and admin. 3.6% is put aside for publicity and fundraising, and the remaining, impressive figure of 96% goes directly to charitable expenditure.
Charitable expenditure?
The money raised by me as a Venturer, will go to Raleigh International's charitable activities as a whole - it might be spent on project materials in an expedition country, or it could go towards Raleigh's 'Motiv8' programme to help underpriviledged youths in Britain secure a better future. Wherever it ends up, it'll be doing someone a lot of good.
Again, thanks for taking a peek. Every donation counts, and is vastly appreciated. And thanks to the Gift Aid scheme, if you are a UK tax payer an extra 28% of your donation will be added in tax, at no cost to you. Justgiving.com is a secure site, so you can donate safely and with peace of mind.
Thanks again!
