Story
Hello!
Thanks for visiting our page. Basically here's what we're doing: in June and July this year we're going to cycle from Cheltenham (from the top of Cleeve Hill on June the 1st to be precise) to Africa (to Morocco to be precise). We will, admittedly, have to make use of a ferry or two because we cannot cycle across Channel or the Straits of Gibraltar - we hope you understand!
It's going to take us about 6 weeks to cover about 2000 miles, and we'll be completely unsupported and self-sufficient. We're going to camp and cook our own food, so our bikes will have the added weight of a tent, sleeping bags and camping stove. Fun fun fun!
We decided to raise money for WaterAid because of the amazing work they do in many developing countries around the world, and in Africa in particular. Limitless safe drinking water really is something we westerners can take for granted, but millions of people make do with a meagre allowance of dirty, often diseased water.
When on our expedition, we will really have to think about where the next drink of water is coming from so that we can cover the miles every day. And this aspect of long-distance cycling made us think of WaterAid.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: WaterAid will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Seriously, WaterAid is a fantastic charity, so please support us in any way you can - anything you can donate will be appreciated!
Thanks a lot,
Claire & Matt.
