Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I lost my darling Son Darren in Afghanistan in a horrific landmine explosion on Bank Holiday Monday, 28th May 2007.  He was 31 years old with the rest of his life in front of him. He had two young sons of his own that he left behind. No matter how much I wish it, I cant have my Darren back, but I want to do something useful and support  his "Army Family" as I know he would want me to do this on his behalf.

We are walking 100 miles from Reading to Duxford village near the Imperial War museum. This will start on 7th July 2008, (it will take 7 days, finishing in Duxford on the 13th), this is to raise money for the Royal Anglian Memorial Fund in support of the fallen and injured soldiers and their families. Walking along side me for the whole 100 miles! will be Helen Gray. Helen is the mum of Chris Gray who was shot by the taliban in face to face combat. A very brave young man, only 19 years old!  Pearl Thumble who's son was killed in the "blue on blue" incident, alongside  Aaron McClure and Rob Foster.

Joining us will be Jan Hawkins, mum of Alex , along with Anne Williams, who's son Tony Rawson who were both killed in action in Helmand,  Friends and family will join us in the walk as and when they can. Some will be walking the whole distance too! fools!!

With us will be some of Darren, Chris, Alex's, John and Tony's comrades that were out with them in Afghan fighting along side them. we shall be very honoured for them to be there supporting us, just as they would have been shoulder to shoulder with our sons.

We miss them so....

Our slogan is "100 miles for 9 smiles" for the 9 soldiers who fell in the March/October 2007 tour of Afghanistan.

God Bless my beautiful Son and his fallen and injuried "brothers".

Please donate generously and support  those who made sacrifices to help make this world a free place for us to live in.
