Every day 250 people in the UK start losing their sight. With your help, we can be there when people need us most, support independent living, create an inclusive society and prevent avoidable sight loss. Every pound you raise will help create a future where sight loss is no longer a barrier.

Story

I am running the London marathon as an AVATAR. My run will be recorded by the Guinness book of records as I attempt to be the fastest AVATAR to run a marathon and be THE FASTEST AVATAR ON THE PLANET!

I am running the London marathon to raise money for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

Eye sight is something you may take for granted. Can you imagine not seeing the sun rise? Or not seeing your children smile?

Losing your vision can affect your lifestyle, your work style and your ability to drive and occassionally get away from it all!

The WHO estimate that 285 million people are visually impaired worldwide and of these 39 million are blind. Yet, the WHO state that 80% of all visual impairment can be prevented or even cured! (please read the facts - see http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs282/en/).

Hence I am running the London marathon to raise awareness for RNIB and everyone affected by sight loss and getting on with it!
