Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This summer I’ll be spending a month out in Vietnam helping in the SOS Children’s Village in Viet Tri which has been set up to provide special protection and education to 160 children and young people who have been orphaned and live in the village uniquely created as a society which provides a family-styled support to the children. There is also a wider nursery and school which provides English and IT lessons which help the children make the transition into adulthood.
It’s this part of the project I’m going out there to help. English and IT are vital skills to have in order to gain employment in the fast-growing Vietnamese economy. I shall be helping young people of all ages to practice their English, a very rare opportunity for the students as there are few UK volunteers. I will be able to identify the areas of the language in which they are struggling to understand and help them improve it. I will also take IT lessons, in English, in order to develop their understanding of computers and the need for information technology in the wider world, which shall help them improve their chances for employment. You’ll be able to follow my preparations and work through my blog at http://help-chris-in-vietnam.blogspot.com/
Without it children, who do not have parents to support their education, simply miss out and are vulnerable to becoming part of the Vietnam’s problems of homelessness, drug abuse, sexual and economic exploitation, trafficking and violence which are increasing as a side-effect of Vietnams economic growth.
So please support me and this fantastic project by making a donation to this page, which will go to the charity ICYE who are helping to send me out there if I raise my target.
Any donation big or small will be greatly appreciated!
