Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
It's MY Diamond Celebration this year! (Sounds much better than saying "I'm 60"!!!). Like the Queen I have been looking back at what I have done and thinking about all of the things that I have yet to do and I decided to set myself a BIG challenge! I've been lucky enough to do loads of travelling with my partner John and 10 years ago I stood on the Great Wall of China at Badaling looking at it snaking its way into the far distance and wondering what it would be like to journey to some of the more remote parts of the wall and get away from the tourists. So, for my Diamond Celebration, I am going to be trekking to them whilst raising money for charity.
I'm funding my own trip but want to support a charity that means something to me, my life and my family. I have been partially deaf from a very young age, as were my mother and grandfather, so have first hand experience of the challenges that being hard of hearing can bring.
Action on Hearling Loss is the largest charity working to change the world for the UK's 10 million people who are deaf or hard of hearing by providing them with care and support, funding biomedical research into finding a cure and campaiging to make changes to the lives of people with hearing loss.
I will be trekking for upto 7 hours some days with some very steep sections and sheer drops, so I'm concentrating on training hard on the beautiful East Yorkshire coast. Everything you are able to give will spur me on my way and go directly to Action on Hearing Loss. You can see my training record on my facebook page.
