Story
As the 2014 Virgin London Marathon draws ever closer I would like to share with you why I will be taking on this amazing challenge.
I first went to donate blood five years ago when a work colleague was struck down with cancer. We all wanted to do something positive beacuse she was such a lovely lady.
It was a total shock to me, and my family when I was told my own red blood cell count was dangerously low – and I was taken straight to hospital. It was a worrying time as I underwent many tests, I had been feeling so well and couldn't believe what was happening.
I started raising money for Children with Cancer because it helps those suffering from a cancer of the blood.
Instead of giving blood, I now recieve transfusions sometimes on the same ward as people receiving cancer treatment.
My work colleague told me "Cancer has shown me how important it is to live life to the full, I don't know if I would be the same person I am today if I hadn't had to live through cancer." This is what will keep me going those 26.2 miles on April 13th 2014.
I love to run marathons, take part in cycle rides, absail to raise money for Children with Cancer.
I can't wait to join the 35,000 runners as we take to the streets of London to be part of this amazing, life changing event!
