Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Be careful with throw away remarks at coffee break! You may just find yourself getting involved in more than you bargained for - like a Triathlon. This happened to us.
Jill has done a sponsored swim and a cycle (not at the same time though) and was looking for a new challenge but didn't fancy running. Someone then suggested that she put them all together and do a Triathlon. This captured people's imaginations and the idea of forming a Chaplaincy Triathlon Team was born. So, it went from one person to two, then to three, then to four and now we have five members of the team.
The team now consists of:
Jill Webster, Chaplaincy Secretary and Administrator
Fiona Douglas, University Chaplain
Graeme Stevenson, Director of Music
Gordon Campbell, Honorary Chaplain
John Culling, Tayforth Universities Officers Training Corps
Although we're doing a Triathlon, it's not the Iron Man Challenge! We all have different abilities in the team so we agreed on distances that we all thought achievable. On the day we will be swimming 32 lengths (half a mile), cycling 10 miles and running 2 miles. These distances to some may not sound much, and individually they are not. But, we are doing them back to back and that will be the challenging bit!
All our hard work and effort is to raise as much money as we possibly can for Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS). CHAS is a Scottish charity established to provide hospice services in Scotland for childen and young people with life-limiting conditions.
CHAS have two children's hospices in Scotland offering professional care, practical help and emotional support to the whole family from the day of acceptance, to the death of their child and beyond.
You don't have to swim, cycle or run you'll be pleased to know, all you have to do is hit the donate now button and you'll be helping hundreds of children and their families. WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP?
Thank you!!!!!
Jill, Fiona, Graeme, Gordon and John
