Story

At 7am on 11 May 2014, at 20 weeks' pregnant, I went into hospital with stomach pains, only to discover I was experiencing the contractions of premature labour. Our son was born and died at 9.30pm that night, after the most physically painful and mentally crushing day of our lives. We have no idea why it happened.

SANDS is the charity which helps parents like Jon and myself to overcome the grief that threatens to overwhelm you in such circumstances. They are also dedicated to research into stillbirth and neonatal death. To raise money for them, we've set ourselves the challenge of cycling the 275 miles from Trafalgar Square, London, to the Eiffel Tower, Paris, in as non-stop a way as possible. The aspiration is within 24hrs, but we might need a nap or two along the way - we'll see!

We're aiming to raise £1,000, in memory of our Little Bean, and would be so grateful if our wonderful friends and family could each spare £10 to help us towards our total. (I should add that we'll be self-funding all the cake-age invariably necessary for this effort, so all your donations will actually go straight to SANDS!)

Being all over modern new-fangled technology, we'll blog the ride, of course. Here's the link:
