Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Every year I don the lycra and knock myself out training for the Acorn Bike Ride and usually my entire fundraising effort is made up of encouraging my friends to join me in this enterprise and rattling a tin for Acorn wherever I go in the week or so before the event. But this year at some point round the 100k almost flat (except for the nightmare hill coming into Sheriff Hutton) route, the Acorn Committee will have raised £1,000,000.

When we started the charity back in 1999, I could not have imagined we would reach this extraordinary total and it is through the efforts of all the Committee past and present, our incredibly long-suffering families and our wonderful and generous friends and supporters that we will have achieved this.

So this year, I am asking you to donate. Not least because at the bottom of Sheriff Hutton hill, or worse, going over the really bumpy bridge at Aldwark when certain parts of my body will be complaining a lot, it would be brilliant to be able to think: We've raised a million pounds!

Please help. Just this once and I promise I won't rattle my tin in your direction - well, not this year anyway! Thank you!
