Story
Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances our team had to withdraw from the Three Peaks Yacht Race, due to take place at the end of June, at short notice. It would be a shame to waste the training effort put into this event, and be good to raise some more money for our chosen charity so I looked for another event. Unfortunate the Pennine Challenge came to my attention and in a rash move I've entered it.
The Pennine Challenge Duathlon is a 150 mile off-road event in the Peak district. It consists of an off-road marathon, a 100 mile mountain bike ride then finishing off with another off-road marathon. The time limit is set to 36Hrs which could be a challenge given the nature of the course and the 13000 meters of assent (not to mention the length). I can't guarantee that I'll finish it within the time limit but I'm going to give it a good shot.
Hope House was our chosen charity for the Three Peaks Yacht Race. We visited them during the preparation for the race and were very impressed with work that they do, looking after terminally ill children and helping their families. Although they provide fantastic value for money, they still need to find a substantial amount of money every year to keep running. A very worthy cause....
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Hope House Children's Hospices will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
