Story

In South Sudan, some 3.4 million women, men and children are displaced from their homes. The economy has collapsed, malnutrition has soared and hunger has taken a firm hold. At least 100,000 are now facing starvation and a further 1 million in the country are on the brink of famine.

The Diocese of Salisbury has been linked to what is now South Sudan for 44 years. We cannot do nothing and Bishop Nicholas is appealing to the Diocese for urgent help for our brothers and sisters.

What we raise from this appeal will be given to Christian Aid’s crisis appeal for South Sudan so that we are part of the coordinated and local response where there is greatest need.

All of our JustGiving fundraising has been aimed at supporting our brothers and sisters in South Sudan, where we have had a Diocesan link since 1973. Civil war, a collapsed economy, and failing political institutions have left millions displaced or hungry. The Church is helping where needed most.
