The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileEach year we need to cover energy bills, insurance, cleaning and maintenance of the Grade 2 listed Library, purchase and replacement of furniture and equipment such as computers and purchase of new books and newspapers. We meet these costs through a mixture of fees for room hire, our own events programme, library services such as the coffee machine and photocopying, and grants and donations.
Costs keep going up but we're reluctant to increase our fees as the library is such an important resource for the whole community.
So sometimes it is a struggle. Any alterations to the building, for instance, need to be done to conservation standards because of its listed status - and we know all the windows will need replacing in the next few years, and new floor covering needed too.
Donations from our supporters are vital therefore to keep the library functioning for the benefit of everybody.
