Story
Mel, originally from Leeds and currently living in Manchester, suffered from aplastic anaemia since she was 8 years old.
On 6 October 2017, Mel was diagnosed with myelodysplasia anaemia and doctors told her that her best chance of survival would be a blood stem cell donation.
With myelodysplasia anaemia being rare, Mel faced a lot of uncertainty and doctors couldn't provide a timeline for her treatment.
However, it was confirmed a match had been found for Mel and in February her transplant took place.
Unfortunately Mel passed away in March, and her family would now like donations to be made in her memory. You can also register as a donor at https://www.dkms.org.uk/en/match4mel
Please support Mel's campaign by making a donation as the search for matching stem cell donor for other patients continues.
