When an atrocity against mankind is committed the historian seeks to preserve the evidence to inform us about the past; the corrupt bureaucrat dismisses records in order to avoid justice while the loved one seeks only to repeat the name of the slain to show us a loved one was once real.

After the massacre of 1984, a brave man named Sardar Bhan Singh at the request of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Commitee, understood the urgency of recording the names of those killed by the state. Realising the wheels were already in motion to consign victims’ identities to dust, he risked his life to compile a record of their names. Were it not for his fortitude, many of the names of the innocent victims would have gone unknown. 

For the first time, the National Sikh Heritage Centre and Holocaust Museum in Derby, U.K. has collated the complete names of the innocent pilgrims and resistance fighters killed by the Indian Army during Operation Blue Star of June 1984. This list is based upon the one produced by Sardar Bhan Singh and Dal Khalsa. In the coming days this list will be shared publicly in the resolve to finally bring to light the names of those whose lives were taken from them.

This page will fundraise to create a memorial which will consign to permanence the names of those innocent victims of 1984. Their names will be inscribed forever more on the walls of a memorial for all to see with now no chance of being forgotten.At the top of this page is an artist impression of the proposed memorial.We have a target of £50k to raise to complete the memorial.
