Youth Action Wiltshire (YAW) is an award-winning service for young people aged 5-18 years in Wiltshire, with some support offered to young people in Swindon. YAW offers intensive support, mentoring, coaching and skills training, alongside free-to-access day, residential and respite activities for young carers, young victims of crime and other young people facing challenges in their lives. Many of our activities such as camping, adventure sports, crafts and conservation take place in nature or at our dedicated outdoor education centres in Oxenwood and Linkenholt.
In addition to our activity programmes, we also offer free transport for all activities in our 17-seater Youth Action Wiltshire minibus. Our minibus makes our service accessible for families who have limited access to public or private transport. Without our minibus, many young people would not be able to take part in our activities or access the help and support they need from our youth workers.
For Youth Action Wiltshire, a minibus is more than just a set of wheels, it's the vehicle that drives adventure, opportunity and friendship for hundreds of young people facing challenges in their lives every year in Wiltshire and Swindon.
Our YAW minibus has transported hundreds of young people to thousands of activities and is now ready for retirement. We are fundraising to purchase a replacement minibus to support the delivery of our work with young people now and in the future. Through a combination of online donations and fundraising events, we aim to raise £30,000 to cover the cost of a replacement minibus for Youth Action Wiltshire.
