Story
At West Lothian RDA, we provide therapeutic riding and stable management sessions for adults and children of all ages with various disabilities. We welcome people of all ages and abilities, including those with physical and learning disabilities, sensory impairments, long-term health conditions, and neurodiversity. We only have outdoor facilities, therefore do not operate throughout the winter.
Our group is operated solely by volunteers in their spare time. During the season we support around 50 riders each week and are supported by up to 100 volunteers. Our service is delivered by 9 ponies. Both participants and volunteers find it a rewarding experience.
Throughout the winter our lovely horses and ponies are looked after daily by a small team of dedicated volunteers who give up their time in all weathers. Generally costs of looking after the herd are much higher in the winter as we need to bring in feeds and extra supplements. This is at a time where we have no income.
This winter we are looking for your help to raise funds to support our running costs and get us through to the spring. Every penny raised will go towards the running costs ensuring our herd will be ready for the new season in the spring.
The main source of feed is hay. £15 will buy 1/3 of a bale, £30 will buy 2/3 of a bale and £50 will buy a full bale delivered. We usually use 3 bales of hay per week until late spring. £10 would cover 6 sachets of pain relief and £25 will buy a share of vitamins and supplements.
Our ponies, participants, volunteers and trustees thank you for your interest in West Lothian RDA and appreciate any donation you can spare to help us through the winter months.
