Woodfield Animal Sanctuary

Winter Feed

We are urgently trying to raise funds to buy Haylage in bulk. This has been the worst year ever for producing hay and haylage. Everyone is struggling and the cost continues to increase. We have the opportunity to obtain hay from a local farmer.

Story

As many of you know, during the Winter months we bring all of our horses and ponies in from their Summer grazing. As such we see our feed bills increase dramatically during these months.

With price increases for all goods and services, we are really struggling financially as Haylage prices soar.

This time last year we were paying £60 per bale for fabulous hay and Haylage. We have the opportunity to obtain hay from a local farmer at a reduced price.

if we able to buy in bulk, we will be able to get it £20 cheaper per bale, but that means buying in a huge quantity in one go. Unfortunately, we are not currently in the financial position to do this.

Due to the cost of living crisis, we are receiving multiple calls a day from horse & pony owners who can no longer afford to keep their animals. We try to take in the ones who would sadly otherwise be euthanized & we need to raise funds needed for their care.

With more and more old horses, young colts and numerous other unwanted animals such as several unwanted dogs pouring through our gates, we are really struggling to feed so many hungry mouths.

We are hoping our loyal and dedicated supporters will be able to help us towards these costs, so that we can continue to provide a safe haven for these animals , who so desperately need us. No amount is too small!

We would like to extend a huge Thank You to everyone who supported us

We cannot express how much your continued support means to the whole Woodfield Team.

Thank you for helping us to continue this vital work in these very difficult times .

Love, Team Woodfield.

About the charity

In 2013 we moved to Gower to retire but after seeing so many abandoned and emaciated ponies we turned our home into a Sanctuary for them as a “save haven” to be cared for and rehabilitated. We have rescued over 300 animals, only accomplishing this with the generosity of our wonderful supporters.
