Story
Local sight loss charity Vista, who have supported local people with sight loss for over 130 years, was targeted in a burglary over the weekend.
Vista staff came into the office on Monday morning to find they had been burgled. Equipment worth thousands of pounds, including laptops, iPads, childrens eye-screening kit and the contents of a safe, with the staff Christmas fund, were stolen during the break-in at Vistas new head office on New Walk, Leicester.
Glyn Rees-Jones, Deputy Chief Executive at Vista, said Were all very shocked by the break-in over the weekend. We are a local charity helping local people with sight loss and to have vital equipment stolen is frustrating. This has had an impact on our staff so were all working hard to support each other through this difficult time, and were assisting Leicestershire Police, with this on-going investigation.
Several laptops taken were taken, as well the contents of a safe. During the break-in dozens of personal drawers and filing cabinets were forced broken and rifled through, damaging the furniture and further adding to the cost of the burglary. Currently the robbery has cost Vista thousands in stolen and damaged goods.
The charity is asking for any donations to help cover the costs of replacing the stolen goods, which were used to help those with sight loss across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.
