If tuition was the only thing paying for your education, TODAY, your education would be done for the year. The idea that the lights are out is because the tuition doesn't cover the entire cost of your college experience and we rely on philanthropy for the rest.
Think about all the staff and faculty, organizations, student activities, clubs that are in your student experience. Without philanthropy, you wouldnt have your full education or a complete college experience.
The Saint Marys Fund is very important for philanthropy on our campus. It provides flexible and accessible support for both short and long term needs. If we didnt have philanthropy, we would not have the campus experience that we do.
Philanthropy is extremely important and highly prevalent on our campus. 40% of faculty and staff donate back to the university, and many alumni and students do as well. Donations come in many sizes with 56% of donations in the last year being $100 or less. On average, $1.5 million is awarded to students through scholarships each year with 99% of undergraduate students receive some type of scholarship, mostly funded by philanthropy.
