Story
On Saturday, 6th June 2026, St John Mary Vianney Parish invites you to join them on this summer day out by taking part in the Eccup Challenge Sponsored Walk. Here, both parishioners and the local community will have the opportunity to come together and catch up with friends whilst raising funds in the process by walking around the beautiful Eccup Reservoir in North Leeds. There will be a choice of either a 2-mile walk, designed to accommodate pushchairs and wheelchairs, which has a gentle terrain or a 6.5-mile walk with mixed terrain for hardened walkers. It will start and finish at St Paul the Apostle Church where refreshments will be available to quench that thirst!
St John Mary Vianney Parish continues to meet the needs of its parish and its community which has seen the demands for its services increase, in part, by the cost-of-living crisis. The parishioners’ dedication to supporting the community has a long history including raising funds to develop care in the community as well as the creation and ongoing support of St Gemma’s Hospice.
Singing, prayers, scripture and evangelisation are an integral part of St John Vianney’s mission. Everyone is welcome!
St John Mary Vianney parishioners need help to raise £5,000 for the Church Restoration Fund to continue supporting their community in both Moortown and Alwoodley. They invite you to participate in and / or offer sponsorship of the Eccup Challenge. By Gift Aiding your donation we can claim back an additional 25% from the Inland Revenue at no cost to yourself.
