Story
Each year, the Eye Hospital cares for 15,000 children, delivering a range of acute, routine and tertiary acute services including consultation, specialised imaging and diagnostics, elective and emergency medical and surgical treatments, follow up care, monitoring of eye conditions and delivery of long term treatment programmes. We are raising funds to enable the opening of sensory facilities for children with additional needs including Autism, ADHD, ADD, or for children experiencing anxiety or trauma attending the Eye Hospital at Hull Royal Infirmary. Creating a sensory room to include light displays and projections, bubble tubes, wall decorations, sensory toys, music and other features will provide much needed stimulation and help calm and distract children attending the eye clinic, helping to ensure the experience of coming to the hospital is as easy as possible for children with additional needs and their parents/carers. Our vision is to create at least three sensory rooms within the Eye Hospital.
We are aiming to raise £15,000 to create the sensory room. Our aim is to raise £7,000 through our London Marathon campaign (information can be found below) and £8,000 from direct fundraising on this page. Any support you can provide will be greatly appreciated and help us to make a difference to children with additional needs visiting the Eye Hospital.
As part of our campaign, Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust's Chief Finance Officer and WISHH Trustee, Lee Bond will be taking part in the London Marathon where to support the campaign. Information about this can be found here.
If you would prefer to donate a via cheque, they can be made payable to the WISHH Charity, posted to the WISHH Office, First Floor Administration Block, Castle Hill Hospital, Castle Road, Cottingham, HU16 5JQ. Please write 'Sensory Appeal' on the back of the cheque or in a covering note so we can ensure all funds are directed where you would like them to go.
