Story

For countless families in our community, the pandemic has resulted in job loss, economic downturn, and a struggle to put food on the table. In need for the first time and not knowing what to do, over 5,000 neighbors have turned to SHIM for food assistance since the start of the pandemic.

Families like Sarah, who referred her elderly father to the food pantry for groceries and a senior box, worried that he wasn't getting adequate nutrition. After a few months of bringing him to the pantry, she reports that he is excited about eating again and is encouraged to try new foods. He also enjoys the social outing opportunity that a food pantry visit provides. He always comes with a smile on his face, shaking hands with all the volunteers.

SHIM's March to Sack Hunger will rally the community to restock SHIM's food pantries and invest in future purchasing power by collecting monetary and food item donations to continue providing critical aid to families as they find their way back to self-sufficiency.
