Story
This Christmas is going to be different for me - different because I'm actually looking forward to it.
Christmas isn't always merry
Most of us think of Christmas as a time for belonging; for sharing jokes with friends and swapping happy memories of the year gone by.
But for many of our students; the pressure to socialise can be crushing. Many have spent months, if not years, isolated in their rooms - too scared to go to school through fear of bullying or because of some other trauma in their lives. Christmas brings their isolation to the fore and brings to an end a year which may well have been terrifying for them.
But we can turn things around
Red Balloon supports vulnerable young people by providing education and counselling to help them rebuild their lives. While exam results are important we know that success is about much more that, and we support and celebrate the individual progress our students make in their own personal development.
This Christmas I want to be with everyone. I want to go out on snowy walks with my dogs, and be like any other child. Most of all I want to eat Christmas dinner at the table with my family; that will be such an achievement for me, it's the best present I could give myself and my family!
