Preserve Heritage: Build the Future - Help us Reconnect Robertsbridge, Bodiam, Northiam & Tenterden

With Robertsbridge Junction taking shape, we need your support to build engine & carriage sheds — vital to protect locomotives, preserve history, provide educational experiences and keep the Rother Valley Railway on track!

Here at Robertsbridge in East Sussex, we are working to link the long-established Kent & East Sussex Railway, back into the national railway network. Work is underway to replace more than a dozen river bridges and reconnect 3.5 miles of track between Bodiam and Robertsbridge Junction.

Story

We’re reconnecting the Kent & East Sussex Railway to the national network — a once‑in‑a‑generation project that will preserve history and inspire future generations.

Thanks to generous grants, the track, platform, and turntable at Robertsbridge Junction are already complete, and the station building is nearing its final stages.

Now we need your support to take the next vital step: building new engine and carriage sheds. These facilities will protect our cherished locomotives, provide modern servicing and maintenance, and create opportunities for visitors to experience traditional railway skills up close.

Phase 2 of our appeal will deliver a two‑track engine shed with inspection pit, coaling facility, diesel servicing point, and a viewing area — more than just a building, it’s the heartbeat of a working heritage railway.

Every donation brings us closer to reopening the line between Bodiam and Robertsbridge, ensuring the railway thrives for generations to come. Join us in making history — your support will Preserve Heritage and Build the Future!
