Oxton Xmas Lights Switch-on
The switch-on, performed by the Mayor of Wirral, Councillor George Davies (Covid permitting) will take place on Sat, Nov 27 at 4.30pm. Activities will be opening from 3.30pm and closing about 6.30pm. After a year without a real-life celebration we are looking forward to enjoying all the usual attractions including:
Mulled wine and mince pies
Kids entertainment by Woodcraft Folk
Santa Claus Grotto (sponsored by Edwards News)
Carousel and Xmas novelties
Artisan food and gift stalls
Street food from our local businesses
Grand Xmas Raffle, (including £300 Bogans Carpet voucher)
Salvation Army Christmas Carols
Childrens Choirs from St Josephs and Woodchurch Rd and the Luminelles
The famous Rock Choir
This year we are extending the lights along Claughton Firs and lighting up the new Willows development. There will also be a giant Xmas Tree sponsored by Ewer Roberts' florist.
Income from all our Xmas activities doesnt cover the costs of the switch-on and the shortfall is usually met with profits from Secret Gardens. Sadly, Secret Gardens was a virtual event this year and income was drastically reduced. So please consider making a small donation to help pay for a big step towards our return towards a normal Oxton.
