Ostley House residential home current has a three-person lift that allows easy access to the upper floors for staff and residents. This is used when most residents cannot use the stairs.
There are times when a resident will need to travel in the lift on a stretcher. At the moment they cannot be placed on a stretcher as the lift is too small.
Also, in the event of a fire the current lift cannot be used making evacuation of the building more difficult.
Our aim is to provide a fire stretcher lift this would be used during fire evacuation and will allow a stretcher to be carried inside.
Having surveyed the whole of our building, the only option is to build an external lift shaft.
We greatly appreciate those that have donated towards our fundraiser so far including our grant making trusts, service-users and members of the public.
All support towards our lift fundraiser is gratefully received. Thank you!
