UPDATE: Thank you so much for your amazing kindness and donations to help these donkeys. We are honestly overwhelmed and so grateful for your support during these difficult times. Any funds raised over their initial rescue and veterinary costs will be invaluable towards their ongoing lifetime care.
------------
A small herd of donkeys has been reported to us by a member of the public, who was shocked and extremely concerned about what she saw... We cannot share too many details or photographs at this stage, as this is a serious welfare case, but we can tell you that their lives have been filled with untold horrors and neglect.
We know we have to act FAST to save them from a very uncertain future, but we URGENTLY need to raise the funds to make this happen. A number of them have already arrived at our sanctuary over the past couple of days and they are all in desperate need of specialist care and veterinary attention. One is just a baby... He arrived terrified, trembling and in very poor condition; covered in excrement, undernourished, thin and filthy.
We simply have to help them all and give them a forever home, but their transport has already cost £2000 and we know that their quarantine and initial veterinary and healthcare costs could easily exceed £5000 - they are underweight, their hooves are over-grown and they will undoubtedly need dental work and treatment for parasites, so we are also anticipating expensive farrier and equine dentist fees. We are losing thousands of pounds as we are forced to remain closed through yet another lock-down, but our rescue work simply must continue...
Please, please donate if you can. These donkeys desperately need us, but we can't save them without you.
Thank you so much.
