Story
Do you #kNOwCMV?
If you don't, you're not alone. Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a very common virus that in most cases is harmless. However for those infected during pregnancy (Congenital Cytomegalovirus or cCMV) and those with a weakened immune system the effects can be devastating.
Each day in the UK ten babies are born with CMV and two or three of these babies will have long-term problems - that's 1000 babies every year.
CMV Action is the only charity in the UK working to raise awareness of CMV and offering support to those affected.
We think everyone needs to #kNOwCMV and it's our goal to educate and inform as many people as possible about the potential risks of CMV to help limit the devastating impact on those currently affected and for future generations.
A diagnosis of CMV is difficult for any family. They can feel overwhelmed, upset, bewildered and helpless. For many the point of diagnosis is the first time they have ever even heard the word 'CMV'. Step into our CMV stories to read just how big of an impact this little known virus can have.
Please help us to spread awareness of CMV. We receive no government funding and everything we do is funded only through the generosity of supporters like you.
