Story
Right now, people in Nepal are feeling the devastating effects of coronavirus on their health, their childrens education and their livelihoods.
As is so often the case, the people hit hardest are those who have the least. Our dear friends in the Sherpa community, who have helped us so generously to achieve our goals, are bearing the brunt of a crisis which no one could have foreseen.
Please consider supporting the Himalayan Trust UK and its incredible work with children, women and families in the remote mountain villages of the Himalayas. It's a real challenge to make sure that health workers in these remote communities are able to monitor and report suspected cases of coronavirus, access essential PPE and keep their families safe. And its heart-breaking to think that all the progress children have made in their education could be jeopardised.
It will be many years before Nepal and its people fully recover from the impacts of coronavirus, the government simply does not have the resources to fund basic services and kick-start the economy.
Please help us to continue to bring quality education and vital health services to families who really need it in the remote mountain villages of Nepal.
Himalayan Trusts founder Sir Edmund Hillary said that his greatest achievement was not climbing Everest, but helping the people of the Himalayas. We are proud to continue his legacy. Go to "Our News" section on the website for an update of our work or sign up to our mailing list to find out more.
Hear from Kenton Cool, Nirmal Nims Purja, Leo Houlding, Stephen Venables, Sir Chris Bonington, Ang Zangbu Sherpa, Rebecca Stephens, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, the late Jan Morris and Ben Fogle why it is time to give back to the people of Nepal.
They need our help now more than ever.
(It's a 4 min clip, but worth to hear them all!)
