Story
Ella was one of a kind, a truly special girl inside and out and although cliché she really was the very best daughter we could have ever wished for. Being young parents made our relationship even more special; she truly was her mum's best friend and a miniature version of her in every way, and also definite daddy’s girl and had him wrapped around her little finger - whatever Ella wanted, Ella had!
Ella was always an extremely popular girl, always out hanging about with her numerous friends or if she wasn’t with them she was out riding the one thing she loved the most, her beautiful horse, Bliss. He brought her so much joy and this joy was reciprocated to us watching her so happy. She really did live each day to her very best, always smiling, laughing and wherever she could, annoying her two younger brothers.
To get the news that Ella suffered a haemorrhage thankfully in her sleep from a diffuse high grade glioma came as an utter shock. How was this thing growing inside of her so rapidly with no symptoms whatsoever? Why didn’t we know? Why didn’t Ella know?
With that, we feel extremely grateful that we didn’t get a diagnosis further down the line and that our beautiful Ella didn’t have to endure any harsh treatment which inevitably would have given us the same devastating outcome.
Shockingly, there is not enough government funding available for vital research into Brain Tumours and this needs to change. Fixing this problem requires systematic change across government, institutions, media and the public.
As a family we have put our pain into purpose and we will fight with everything we have left to honour our Ella and to make it our mission to change this so that no other family has to endure the trauma we have in facing every parents worst nightmare.
For Ella, We will never stop
We love you endlessly xxx
