The Ryan McBride Foundation was founded in remembrance of former Derry City captain, Ryan McBride who passed away suddenly in March 2017. The aim of the foundation is to help young people to realise their full potential through community
programmes across Derry. We have three main aims; to Support, Assist and Inspire young people to achieve their full potential.
Ryan McBride’s story is exceptional, coming from junior football at 19 to go on to play 177 games for Derry City, captain his beloved candy stripes 57 times and win FAI and League Cup winners medals. We hope that through the Foundation’s work, Ryan’s name will stay alive for years to come and can demonstrate to local young people facing a range of issues that their dreams can be achieved.
Monies raised will help deliver:
- PE sessions to over 30 primary schools across Derry
- School tutoring and mentorship
- Help support local clubs
- Camps & Programmes
- Sporting opportunities for young people
- Support families in current cost of living crisis
- Coaching Apprenticeships
