Story
Help us provide a daily welfare phone call for our vulnerable older residents.
Age UK Lancashire desperately needs your help to support older people who are being forced into a very fearful isolation by the current Covid-C crisis.
Over 35,000 older people across Lancashire already identify as lonely and socially isolated and the current situation means that the most vulnerable people are now feeling very scared. Many older people do not have access to the media for up to date information or families to provide it and do not know who to trust when they need help. Most will have seen media coverage of the pandemic in other countries and be extremely panicked by the reports.
Age UK Lancashire needs to launch this service as quickly as possible so that they can provide regular contact to ensure people are keeping well and feel reassured. We will be able to check people have the help they need with shopping , bill paying, access to medical treatment , keeping mentally and physically active or just provide a friendly reassuring voice at the end of the phone.
We want people to feel they are staying home to keep well and looked after rather than isolated. The publics response to the virus is heart warming but we want to ensure that people are getting the support they need from a trusted organisation.
Speed is of the essence. Please contribute what you can to help us set up and sustain this service throughout the summer and beyond.
Please help us by donating today.
Many thanks
