Story
In continuation of the successful inaugural Memorial Cup in 2024, honouring Ubedun Nur Choudhury-Boss and Abdul Kadir, we proudly present the 2025 edition in memory of two more community inspirations that have left lasting impact:
Jilu Meah Mannan and Shaykh Fahimul Anam.
Remembering:
Jilu Meah Mannan
Over 40 years,a well-known community role model through business and sports. Managed the Eastenders Snooker Club and, through his entrepreneurship, encouraged young people to participate in competitions, learn social skills, and keep away from antisocial activities.
A keen sportsperson representing football clubs including PYO, Stars of East End and Sporting Bengal as well as mainstay of UK Bangladeshi Golf Society, removing barriers for the next generation and inspiring young people into sports.
Remembering:
Shaykh Fahimul Anam
For over 40 years, Shaykh Fahim was a dedicated scholar, leader, and exceptional role model for young people and the wider community. Through education, mentorship, sports, and charitable initiatives, he touched countless lives.
He was instrumental in establishing key community institutions, including Darul Ummah Masjid, Jamiatul Ummah (madrassa), Unwind Summer School, and Darul Ummah Maktab.
After completing his Sharia studies, he went on to found initiatives such as Beacon Institute, Oak Education, Gift of Knowledge, Muslim Family Matters, and the Charity Boat Race. These projects reflected his commitment to strengthening faith, spreading knowledge, building community cohesion, and creating opportunities for others.
Shaykh Fahim gave his time voluntarily, always with humility, sincerity, and a deep sense of service. His legacy lies in the foundations he built and the inspiration he instilled in others to pursue lifelong learning and aspire to serve their communities.
