Story
The Childrens Environmental Education Garden is a combined project between the Prosper Coffs Harbour Environmental Trust and the North Coast Regional Botanic Gardens. With up to 2,500 children attending the Botanic Gardens for education purposes and another 1,000 attending for back to nature experiences. The project will provide a dedicated space for environmental education for visiting school groups.
The Children's Environmental Education Garden will be located near the water wise garden in the Prime Display Area in the North Coast Regional Botanic Garden. The project will include an education centre to facilitate environmental workshops, a nature outdoor area and digging garden for children to learn how to grow plants and compost.
The experience of children learning outdoors has powerful impacts, such as improving behaviour, getting children excited about learning and giving students an opportunity to thrive who may struggle in a normal classroom setting. Reports also show that learning outdoors teaches students practical skills such as problem solving, teamwork and creativity.
To help us reach our target in fundraising for this important project for the community we need your support. Donate today and help us improve environmental education for kids on the Coffs Coast.
