Story
Earlier this year I failed to complete the London Landmark Half Marathon.
I was really disappointed and my pride heavily dented, when my long-term friend Bas called me and suggested "why don't we do a 50k Ultra Run later this year!"
Before I knew it I had signed up and there was no turning back!
To thank Trace (my wife) for helping me over the line in London (she completed the last 3 miles for me while I was in the back of an ambulance!) we are raising money for Communication Specialist College Doncaster (CSCD), which is managed by registered charity Doncaster Deaf Trust.
The Ultra X 50 England is an event that takes place in the Peak District National Park on Sunday 15th September 2024. It's a 50K Ultra Run through the beautiful Peak District, famous for its vast natural landscapes, spa towns, caves and network of footpaths and cycling trails. With a huge variety of remote terrain, challenging climbs, and stunning upland scenery on offer, the Peak District is one of the best trail running locations in the country. I've added an image in the gallery to show the difficulty of this marathon!
CSCD educate, train and care for students who are Deaf, hard of hearing, autistic, or may have other communiation needs. Students who attend the college are incredibly diverse with varying needs - from severe learning disabilities, who need one to one support, to those who are able to access a full curriculum independently.
All funds raised will go directly to CSCD to support the vital work that they do to ensure each student reaches their full potential.
*update*
On Sunday 15th September, myself and Bas took on the Ultra X 50 England. We are proud to say that we completed this remote terrain challenge with an amazing time of 8 HOURS 45 MINUTES and 43 SECONDS! The support everyone has shown is truly appreciated!
