Story
Firstly, thank you so much for taking the time to read our page and support our efforts.
Addington School is an outstanding environment for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. All our pupils have a learning difficulty with almost half also having Autism.
The Addington School Association is a very small group of dedicated parents and teaching staff who raise funds for much needed extra facilities at the school that are not provided by the Local Authority. Our latest ambitious plan is a Sensory Garden which we hope to have raised funds for by 2020.
Help us to grow our Sensory Garden
The garden will transform our outside space. Zones will create stimulating challenges that support learning guidelines and the National Curriculum by encouraging our pupils to develop physical, social and emotional skills through exploration and interaction.
A lot of thought and care has gone into the design to ensure how pupils move and are supervised throughout the space has maximum effect.
We are so very excited about the impact this space will have on our pupils and we will honour the kindness and help that all our supporters provide. Sara Attra, Headteacher
Your donations will help us bring an incredible garden to life:
Sensory Planters
Rain and Mirror Tunnels
Shadow, Texture and Mirror Boards
Doodle Screens
Musical Instruments
Gazebo Improvements - Colourful panels and wheelchair ramp
Following the successful completion of the above. We plan to develop a second stage of the garden to include sand play, mud kitchen, pebble play and specialist zones for performances, story telling and socialising. This phase requires more than £60,000 of funding so we'll keep you posted on our progress following phase 1 :)
