Story
In Staffordshire we are doing our bit to welcome and support Afghan evacuees following tragic recent events in their homeland. Local councils have already committed to support around 20 families in the county.
You may have seen recent media coverage that the Home Office are also placing a large number of Afghan evacuees in suitable accommodation in Newcastle-under-Lyme, until they are offered permanent homes around the country. Local public services including councils and the NHS are supporting these families with health, education and other needs, and have also been inundated with offers of support from the community.
In most cases the Afghan evacuees were forced to flee with only the possessions they could carry. For anyone wishing to help, we have established donation pages with local charity, The Community Foundation for Staffordshire. Any donations made will be used to buy clothes, childrens toys or other essential items that the families need. We would kindly ask people not to donate clothes, toys or other items themselves.
Every penny donated will go directly to the people who need it most.
If you would prefer to donate offline, by sending a cheque or postal order, you can send it to;
