Story
Oor Wullie has certainly been hard to miss this summer. But did you know that Oor Wullie has been supporting our six Scottish units going to the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia?
Our jamboree units have been working in partnership with DC Thomson over the past year to create Scout Oor Wullie, and feature him on their unit badges and the merchandise they have been selling to raise funds to help get them to the World Scout Jamboree.
Scout Oor Wullie took physical form this summer when DC Thomson commissioned artist David J Mitchell to paint a sculpture of him for the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail. You can find him outside the Radisson Red in Glasgow.
The Oor Wullies BIG Bucket Trail runs for 11 weeks from 17th June 2019 30th August 2019, and aims to unite the country as it raises awareness and vital funds for Scotlands childrens hospital charities. As well as visiting Scout Oor Wullie, you can explore the trails and sculptures in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Inverness, and Aberdeen via the trial maps [https://www.oorwullie.com/official-trail-maps/].
At the end of the trail all of the sculptures will be auctioned off to raise funds for the childrens hospital charities. We would like your help to raise enough funds to bid for Scout Oor Wullie so we can bring him to his new home at Scout Adventures Fordell Firs for all our members to enjoy for years to come.
Whether we win the auction or not, anything that you donate to us will go to this charity that makes a vital difference to the lives of young people in Scotland.
So, if you have anything you can spare, please help us to help this amazing charity, and get Scout Oor Wullie to his new home in Fordell Firs.
Thanks in advance for your support.
