Story
Starting judo at the age of 5 in a small Scottish town with Sportif Judo Club, little did I know about the journey I was about to go on. Judo has always been a great passion of mine, but after achieving my first British Championship medal at age 13 (pre-cadet bronze), I decided that judo was what I wanted to do. From then on it's been all about working hard at everything I do from my studies in school to training even harder on the mat.
My greatest achievements so far have been gaining three Bronze medals and one Silver medal at the British Championships at under 17 and under 21 level, and also winning the Scottish Championships at under 17 level 3 times in a row. Medalling in all colours throughout the years and finally earning a place on the GB squad in 2022 has only fed my desire to achieve the ultimate goal, to become an Olympian.
As of September 2022, I decided to delay my plans for University and fully commit to full-time training as a self-funded athlete at Camberley Judo Club. To take the next step in my career and achieve all that I can, I need to travel abroad to compete in European Cups and other International tournaments to gain International experience. The training camps that come along with these tournaments will be crucial for my development as I will be fighting some of the best players around the world for my age. My aim is to travel abroad at least 6 times this year. Over the next few years, I hope to win medals at these International events, boosting my world ranking in the process.
I work when not training in order to afford all the expenses that Judo incurs, including training costs, competitions, travelling and the list goes on. No matter how big or small, any donation would be gratefully received to help me achieve my goals both in the coming year and beyond.
