Story
Welcome to the North Wales Cancer Appeal
Officially launched in 2016, The North Wales Cancer Appeal was borne out of The Ron & Margaret Smith Appeal, a North Wales Charity that has been fundraising for the benefit of The North Wales Cancer Centre at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd since 1991.
With a long and distinguished history, since its inception the original appeal has raised well over £3 million, with a growing and impressive list of essential equipment purchased for The Cancer Centre.
Run entirely by volunteers, we work in conjunction with both clinical and management staff in the Centre. Together we identify the need for funding for renewal or replacement of vital equipment, research and education and any items deemed necessary for the patients' ongoing treatment and care.
The Charity has the discretion to choose where funds are spent, and this targeted approach ensures the Appeal is relevant to the needs of the patients. Also, importantly, contributors know how and where their donations are used.
The Committee meets at least six times a year and is regularly fundraising in conjunction with Friends of the Charity and other volunteers to raise money. A number of Annual Events now also form part of the fund raising calendar, details of which can be found on this web site. Read on to find out what we do and how, if you want, you may be able to help...
