Story
Over 217 days, five young people and five staff from Woodpecker Class at MacIntyre School and Children's Homes will be doing a variety of activities covering 3,364 miles to raise money for MacIntyre School including the students 2022 prom.
The challenge began on November 25 2021 and will come to an end on 30 June 2022 (or sooner), involving activities such as walking, skipping, running, cycling, swimming, climbing stairs. The students and staff will be covering the same distance as travelling from Wingrave (Aylesbury Vale) in the United Kingdom to Long Island, New York, in the United States.
Why Long Island, New York? It's the home of Quogue Wildlife Refuge (Woodpecker Park), a wildlife conservation complex that is home to six different species of Woodpecker.
Eight students are set to graduate from MacIntyre School in July and the team would love for them to make memories that will last a lifetime, celebrate their achievements and have fun with their friends at their prom before embarking on a new adventure.
MacIntyre School is a truly special place, providing excellent education and care for children and young people aged between 10 and 19, with severe learning disabilities, autism and other complex needs. We have the highest expectations for our children and want them to achieve more than anyone ever thought possible.
It's a huge challenge and we hope that you will dig deep to support Woodpecker Class.
Money raised from this campaign will go towards funding the 2022 MacIntyre School prom and other MacIntyre School projects.
