In 2021, Parchment Trust received a very generous donation that we used to purchase an interactive touchscreen television for service users in our Dedicated and Bespoke Services. This has already made a difference to our adults with multiple and profound disabilities, allowing greater participation in their care and experience within the project. Service users are benefitting from improved communication with staff and have tools they can use for distraction, creativity and learning.
Eye Gaze software will soon become an integral part of their operating systems and we are hopeful that this will make a huge difference in terms of communication and participation too!
Our DBS service users have gained so much from this that we are now hoping to place screens in both Friary Gardeners and Co-operative Services. The nature of the technology will provide our adults with learning disabilities a physically interactive and immersive experience in terms of learning and having fun.
Sadly, technology such as this does not come cheap. The estimated cost of two more screens is approximately £20,000. We are, therefore, asking for donations from our supporters towards the cost of these invaluable tools.
